Whole Foods is a publicly owned supermarket chain with nearly 200 stores on two continents, and three locations in San Francisco alone. Shoppers can choose from a wide variety of organic, biodegradable, and otherwise eco-friendly products. They are encouraged to bring their own bags (or buy a reusable one carrying a Whole Foods logo) and those who do so are rewarded with either a 5-cent discount or a wooden token. This token can be deposited in one of several charity boxes in the form of a donation.
Is it the daily exercise of walking up the hills? Is it the guppified neighborhood? Is this a new Whole Foods hiring policy? Whatever it is, anecdotal evidence suggests that the guys at the newest Whole Foods in the city are the hottest of all three whole foods.
The SoMa store (and quite possibly the Franklin store as well) has a delicious hot food buffet.
Whole Foods also offers fresh roasted organic coffee and espresso.
Eco friendly, whatever. Large business, yes. They still need big trucks to haul their products around.

2008-04-25 22:08:08 They have a large variety of organic yogurt. I bought the Wallaby Yogurt and I thought that the kangaroo-like image was so cute. However, the yogurt is not actually from Australia. Wallaby Yogurt is a San Francisco based company that uses yogurt from family owned farms in Northern California. It doesn't come from wallabies. The yogurt is very liquid and not too sweet. It is supposed to taste like yogurt from Australia. I've never been there so I guess I will never know. You can mail in foil lids for free stuff such as t-shirts, plush wallabies, and travel pouches. —Jedron
