UC Hastings College of the Law (AKA Hastings, or UC Hastings) was founded in 1878, and is California's oldest law school.
Currently, it is housed in two buildings, 198 McAllister and 200 McAllister St. Renovation work was completed on 200 McAllister St. in Summer 2007. Hastings is located on the border of Hayes Valley and The Tenderloin, near the courts and City Hall.
Hastings has around 1200 enrolled students, and confers around 400 degrees each year. Hastings has produced more current sitting Californian judges than any other Californian law school.
The other local college in the UC system is UC San Francisco, which is focused on teaching medicine.
