Peet's Coffee is a Berkeley-originated gourmet coffee chain, often compared to Starbucks. While Peet's does have many similar qualities to Starbucks, many Bay Area residents hold it in a higher regard. For one, despite being a national chain, it does have local origin. Moreover, Peet's tends to lend attention to keeping its feel less sterile by implementing small but important details: locally produced fresh baked goods, fresh nutmeg grinders, and high attention to coffee drink production quality.
