This is an annual "race" that takes place in mid-May. The race's namesake comes from the fact that it starts at the Bay and stretches completely across the city to the Ocean.
It is considered one of the biggest parties of the year by those who don't actually take part in the race, but choose to dress up in costumes and drink the entire route. Several thousand people participate.
Bay to Breakers will be on May 17 in 2009.
